In this newsletter,
one of our policy experts Evelyn Barrios answers the following question...
Q -
My teen-ager is about to start driving. Is there anything that I
need to know with regards to insurance so that I don't end up spending
more money than I need to ?
First of all, congratulations on making it through the first part of the
teen years. Many parents ask the same question, so here are a few
things to consider...
- The vehicle that your
teen-ager drives should be registered to you. This way they can
be insured as an additional driver and you can receive a multi-vehicle
discount.
- The car that your child
drives should be at least seven years old. This way it can be
covered by a simple liability policy.
- Many insurance companies
give discounts for students with high grade point averages. This
is known as a "Good student credit."
- Lastly, make sure that
your new driver has successfully completed a driver's education
course.
I hope this helps answer
your question. If you have any further concerns, please feel free to
contact me or any of our representatives.
